Harvest is over? Not even close!

I was talking with some people around the shop the other day and they where saying that in their opinion harvest was pretty much over for the year. Well I hope you all are in the same boat as me when I say that it hasn’t even begun.

I’m leaving Thursday morning to drive to Walla Walla and pick up my Syrah, and the Cab. Sauv. is still hanging trying for all it’s worth to ripen. It will be one more trip to get that goodness. It is most assuredly a late late year for everybody, but the grapes are slowly coming in.

Let me know how your harvest is going. Do you still have grapes you need to get? Have they come in already? What are you making? I want to hear what other winemakers are doing this year.

Harvest 2011

Well, since harvest is underway in Washington, and we received our first shipment of Merlot a few weeks ago so I thought I would share a few pics of the fun we have had crushing and fermenting. Our last shipment of grapes is coming in this weekend, It was a good time crushing with all of you and we hope to see you again next year. (I just received word that we can no longer get any Syrah. Everything is sold for the year.)

Grapes are ripening…’bout time!

We are super sphyched about the coming weeks. The Merlot we’ve ordered is on it’s way! This Sunday will be pick-up time (for those of you who have pre-ordered, you know who you are) and we are still taking orders because it will be available for the next couple of weeks. 1500 lbs are available and our grower is letting us take reservations for more until about the first week of October.

We also have 100 lbs of Syrah left. The Syrah will probably start coming in around the 9th of October and will continue for the week or two after.

If you want grapes call or stop in quickly as harvest is now moving along nicely and won’t slow down for anybody.

Class cancelled, sorry all.

Well, It is Thursday and we have not had enough people signed up for the Winemaking class so It has been cancelled. Sorry if you were signed up and looking forward to it.

Wine class reminder

Alright everybody, if you are interested in taking our wine class get ahold of us and get signed up. If we don’t get enough people registered the class will be canceled, and nobody wants that to happen! The class is coming up this Saturday 9/17 from 10:00 am to 1:00pm and will be concentrating on general winemaking info concentrating on testing grapes and wine and the necessary chemistry to make great wine.
